On November 6, 2012 the qualified electors of the City of Hallandale Beach will be voting for three (3) At Large City Commission Seats (Mayor and two Commissioner seats) as well as six (6) Proposed Charter Amendments. Below is information for the candidates that have filed paperwork with the City Clerk's Office. Individuals whose status is listed as "Announced" are not considered official candidates until they have satisfied all legal qualification requirements. Qualifying will begin at Noon, June 4, 2012 through Noon, June 8, 2012. The final list of qualified candidates will be available after the close of qualifying.

General Information
The City of Hallandale Beach holds a General Election every odd numbered year in March until 2007. Starting on November 2008 the City will hold the General Election in November of even numbered years along with the County wide General Election. Municipalities may have "Special Elections" as needed, such as to fill an unanticipated opening on the Commission.
Voting
For more information about registering to vote, contact the Broward County Supervisor of Elections any weekday between 8 am and 5 pm, at 954-357-7050.
You may register on-line using the Voter Registration Form provided by the State of Florida Division of Elections.
You will need to register to vote if:
- You are a first time voter applicant
- You are a youth 17 years old and turning 18 years old by October 9, 2012, and will be eligible to vote in the 2012 Presidential Election
- You have changed your address
- You have moved from a different county to Broward County
- You have changed your name
- Your signature changed
- Your name has been expunged from the voting rolls by the Supervisor of Election Office
- You are changing your party affiliation
- You are requesting voter card replacement
You may register to vote at the same time you are applying or renewing:
- A Florida Driver License
- A Broward County Public Library Card
- Benefits at State public assistance agencies
- Services and agencies that provide services to disabled persons
- At Armed Forces Recruiting Offices

Polling Locations
If you are unsure of your precinct location, check the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Precinct Locator page. After a few questions to obtain your home address, it will provide the location where you will go to vote. The site will also provide information on your elected officials and the dates of upcoming elections.

Running for Office
Candidates for City Commission must be a qualified elector and have resided in the City for one (1) year immediately preceding qualifying.
Qualifying for Office
Please contact the City Clerk at (954) 457-1340 for qualifying deadlines. Qualifying and Assessment Fee (Section 99.092(1) and 99.093(1) , F.S.): An amount equal to 1% of the annual salary of position sought qualifying fee to the State plus a $50 City filing fee. The fees must be paid by a check drawn on the campaign checking account. A candidate handbook is prepared by the City Clerk’s office.
