Overview

PAL provides affordable youth crime prevention programs that utilize educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth and provide a safe and secure environment for the residents in our community.  PAL offers overlapping sports to offer a greater appeal to its residents throughout the calendar year and will continue to seek new programs for the community. PAL provides economic assistance to residents of the City of Hallandale Beach through an established Economic Assistance Grant Program.  PAL gathers report cards/progress reports from all participants and compile data as per the City of Hallandale Beach Resolution number 2008-03, which states each participant must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.  Any participant that does not meet the requirement is given information on afterschool/tutorial programs and follows up with their participation and progress.

Supervised Juvenile Activities

The Police Athletic League of Hallandale Beach (PAL) was incorporated in 2004 as a way to provide an opportunity for interaction between Police Officers and the youth of the community.  In 2006, PAL took over all athletics for the City of Hallandale Beach.  Since its inception, PAL has increased membership from 125 participants to over 1,100.

PAL believes that athletics are a vital part of a child’s life.  Participation in athletics provides excellent preparation for achievement in school, college and in later years, in the business world.  Participants learn how to compete effectively and with integrity in any setting, how to be a contributing member of a team and society, how to provide leadership, and how to be resilient after defeat or victory.  PAL believes that these lessons instill and strengthen qualities that add to success in our children’s personal, and future professional lives.

PAL has developed several constructive programs that assist in solving youth problems and giving the young people of our community hope.  PAL serves our community as a whole by providing twelve programs of enrichment for City of Hallandale Beach residents as follows; basketball, boxing, bowling, cheerleading, Fall Baseball, Fall Soccer, Flag, Football, Spring Baseball, Summer Soccer, Tackle Football and Track and Field.
