| Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and Festival January 2014 • 10am-5pm • Johnson Park |
This exciting event commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and is truly a day of celebration. The parade begins at 10:00am at B. F. James Park, 101 NW 9 Street, continues south down NW 2 Avenue, west on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, then north on NW 8 Avenue, ending at Johnson Park, 900 NW 8 Avenue. The festival at Johnson Park starts at noon, with entertainment, speakers, food vendors, a battle of the bands and children's activities.

Hop on over to this annual egg hunt at Peter Bluesten Park, 501 SE 1 Avenue, where there are plenty of eggs to find, and cookies and punch is served. Bring a basket for the eggs, and a camera for pictures with Mr. Flop E. Ears, who is certain to visit.

It's easy being green! There is lots to learn at this fun and informative event:
- Local, state and national parks.
- Recycling and the life line of trash.
- Proper tree planting
- How to become a member of the Plant Protectors Club
- And much more!
Additionally, we will make a plant life cycle wheel, design a "Day at the Beach," and make a planter.
New this year is the Garbage-to-Art Contest. Open to middle school students, high school students and adults, create a one-of-a-kind artwork utilizing recycled items from your home. For more information, click here.

| Please help us keep our beaches clean at this annual clean-up where citizens across the state are lending a hand. Meet at the South Beach Chickee Hut (A1A, one block south of Hallandale Beach Boulevard). Make sure to dress cool, and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Parking is free for volunteers. |

Kick off the holiday season with this fun-filled celebration on the northwest corner parking lot at the Village of Gulfstream Park, 501 South Federal Highway. Entry is free, and there will be community entertainment, children's activities, music, face painting, amusement rides ($3 ride bands), balloon artists and visits with Santa!
