Ocean Day! Save the Date: Saturday, March 28
This year's GreenFest is going to be a little different. 2020 the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and the UN has dubbed 2020 as the year of action for our Oceans. As such, GreenFest is morphing marine this year into Ocean Day. Don't worry, many of the GreenFest classics will still be making an appearance including:
- Free Shredding and Safe Prescription Disposal
- Free Tree and Plant Giveaways
- Free Energy and Water Conservation Device giveaways
- Free T-Shirts to the early-birds
- Environmental Exhibitors
- Other Giveaways
In addition to the usual programming we're all used to, Ocean Day will also include some new additions to better provide the environmental education the event was created to provide:
- Panel Discussions on topics including seaweed blooms, climate change, and landscaping practices which can protect our environment
- Ocean focused film showings in Commission Chambers
- Florida native wildlife presentation with live rescued animals cared
- A free "Bleach Watch" class to teach snorkelers and SCUBA divers how to identify and report coral bleaching and coral disease (registration required)
- Poster presentations by local university students
- Food trucks
