In light of the horrific tragedy in the Town of Surfside with the collapse of a portion of the Champlain Towers South Condominium on June 24th, the City of Hallandale Beach has compiled information on the Building Safety Inspection Program, commonly known as the 40 year inspections, at www.coHB.org/SafetyInspections.
We are actively working to ensure that structures 40 years old and older take the steps necessary to receive their 40 year certifications and subsequent 10 year recertifications. The City of Hallandale Beach Building Division sends out notifications to all properties on our 40 year certification or subsequent 10 year recertification list. We will be sending out another notice to all properties this week as well.
However, please don’t wait. If your building was originally built in or earlier than 1981, or if you are concerned about serious structural issues, please reach out to a licensed architect, or structural and electrical engineer, and start your assessment process.
Please visit our webpage at www.coHB.org/SafetyInspections for more information including links to our Condominium Registration, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations' online licensee database, the Broward County Building Safety Inspection Program and fillable PDF application form, and more. To ensure full transparency, a list of properties requiring an inspection will be added to this webpage soon.Thank you to our community members who reached out to ask what they can do to help the victims of the Surfside Collapse. A hardship fund has been created tp help those impacted by the devastating building collapse. Visit SupportSurfside for more information.
