FEMA Resources Available to Flooding Victims

If you were affected by last month's flooding, FEMA is offering resources, including a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) and financial assistance, to residents, businesses, and churches to help recover from damage. The DRC is located at Hortt Park (1700 SW 14th Court, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312), and another DRC will be coming to our city soon. Please stay tuned to our social media and website for updates.

Kao Sushi Bar & Grill Grand Opening

Today's the day- we’re welcoming Kao Sushi Bar & Grill (11 NE 1st Avenue), the FIRST shipping container restaurant in Broward, to our community. Help us extend a warm welcome to the Kao team from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Memorial Healthcare Health Fair

You are invited to Memorial Healthcare's Health Fair tomorrow, May 20, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate the reopening of Foster Park Community Center (609 NW 6th Avenue) and the "One City at a Time" program soon debuting in the City. There will be a variety of free health services for the whole family- we hope you can make it out.

Free Monthly Food Distribution

We understand that many families in our community struggle with food insecurity, especially during these challenging times. That's why we're committed to providing free, nutritious food to those in need. Our next monthly food distribution will be held on June 7, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hepburn Center (1000 NW 8th Avenue).

Our food giveaway is open to all Hallandale Beach residents, regardless of income or background. For more information, please call the City's Human Services Department at (954) 457-1460.

Join Us for the Sunrise Park Ribbon-cutting Ceremony

Save the date for the Sunrise Park (416 NE 8th Avenue) ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 3, 2023, at 10 a.m.! Sunrise Park is the tenth park to be completed as part of our City Wide Parks Master Plan. We are excited to open this brand new public space for our community and hope to see you there.

Sargassum Seaweed Management

Sargassum seaweed is a type of brown algae that drifts on the ocean surface, often accumulating in large, dense mats formed by wind and currents. While sargassum itself is not harmful to human health, the tiny organisms that live in it can irritate skin with direct contact.

Our team is hard at work conducting daily beach cleanings to clear the seaweed, and could use your help. When visiting our beach, please remember to:

• Stay clear of beach cleaning equipment
•  Avoid touching the sargassum or throwing it in trash receptacles
• Always supervise children
