If you were affected by last month's storms, tornadoes, or flooding, FEMA is providing financial resources for temporary lodging, basic home repairs, personal property losses, and other uninsured expenses. Applications must be submitted by June 27, 2023. FEMA is also operating a Disaster Recovery Center at the Big Easy Casino, 831 N. Hurricane Season Underway

Yesterday marked the start of hurricane season. Make sure your household knows the evacuation plan, you have an emergency kit prepared, and you're stocked up on nonperishables. If you still need to purchase hurricane preparedness essentials, like batteries, tarps, and radios, the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is going on now through June 9, 2023. Free Monthly Food Distribution

We understand that many families in our community struggle with food insecurity. That's why we're committed to providing free, nutritious food to those in need. Our next monthly food distribution will be held on June 7, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at at the Hepburn Center (1000 NW 8th Avenue). Our food giveaway is open to all Hallandale Beach residents, regardless of income or background. For more information, please call the City's Human Services Department at (954) 457-1460.

Thank You for Coming Out to the "One City at a Time" Event

Thank you to everyone who came out to welcome Memorial Healthcare's "One City at a Time" program to our city! "One City at a Time" is a mobile healthcare center for children and adults that provides free primary care services to the community. The mobile center will be outside of the Foster Park Community Center (609 NW 6th Avenue) every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday through June 28, 2023, and one day a week for two years after June 28. Sunrise Park Ribbon-cuttingDon't forget, the Sunrise Park (416 NE 8th Avenue) ribbon-cutting ceremony is tomorrow, June 3, 2023, at 10 a.m.! Sunrise Park is the tenth completed park of our City Wide Parks Master Plan. We are excited to open this brand new public space for our community and hope to see you there.

Throughout the summer, a variety of family-friendly events will be held at the Cultural Community Center (410 SE 3rd Street) and the OB Johnson Center (1000 NW 8th Avenue). You can play your part in keeping our city green. Keep these tips in mind all year long: - Flush only toilet paper down the toilet. Everything else, including products marked "flushable," should be thrown out.
- Wipe off oil, grease, and fat from pots and pans and throw it in the trash, not down the drain.
- Refrain pouring or dumping anything down stormwater drains, they're only meant to dispose of rainwater.
