CONTINUE PREPARING FOR POTENTIAL IMPACT OF HURRICANE DORIAN
The City of Hallandale Beach continues to pay close attention to the storm by following the National Hurricane Center for latest storm information and partnering with the County and State Emergency Management Divisions.
City staff encourages residents and business owners to make necessary preparations for the anticipation of Hurricane Dorian. At this moment, Residents should be in the process of implementing their hurricane plans. Now is a good time to gather necessary items such as gasoline for vehicles, water for consumption, and non-perishable food items, in case there is a loss of power. Here are a few updates:
CITY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
• Boil Water Notice: The Boil Water Notice remains in effect. We continue to expect for it to be lifted by Saturday (08/31). A notification will occur once boil water notice is lifted.
• Full water pressure is available City Wide. Any issues/concerns with respect to water shall be reported to our Water Treatment Plant by calling 954-457-1600.
• A State of Emergency for the City of Hallandale Beach remains in effect. City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been partially activated. Residents may contact our Hallandale Beach EOC Hotline (954) 266-5320 for specific City Information.
• Shelters: The County manages shelters and date/time of opening is still pending. The City does not control which shelters are chosen to open. There are no shelter locations in the City of Hallandale Beach. Please call Broward County’s 3-1-1 hotline for Shelter and County service information.
• For Hallandale Beach specific questions, you may call the HB EOC hotline at (954) 266-5320.
• Sandbag Distribution is Closed: Sand supply has been depleted. More than 10,000 bags of sand were distributed today. We will not be reopening tomorrow. We thank the Big Easy for allowing us to use their facility for distribution. It is illegal to take sand from the beach for sandbag purposes. HBPD staff will be monitoring area.
CITY SERVICES UPDATES
• At 2PM each day, City staff will broadcast a Facebook live to share relevant information and answer any questions from constituents. At 5 PM each day, the City will release an official Bulletin Update. We will also post relevant information on the following page: www.cohb.org/Hurricane
• Non-essential City services will cease at the end of tomorrow Saturday August 31, 2019. City Hall is closed until further notice. Mini-Bus Shuttle service will remain in normal operation until further notice. City is staffed and ready to respond to emergencies.
• We ask the public to refrain from placing bulk trash items further in the swale. Household Garbage pickup services are discontinued after tomorrow’s normally scheduled commercial service route. Residential Sanitation services have been completed today and are suspended until further notice.
• The Hallandale Beach parks are currently open on normal schedule however the BF James Pool, Cultural Community Center, Foster Park Center, Ingalls Park Center, and OB Johnson Park Center are closed starting Saturday August 31, 2019. Peter Bluesten Park remains closed.
• NotifyMe: We would like to reinforce the importance of signing up for updates through our notifyMe system. To register for email notifications, please visit: http://cohb.org/list.aspx. The NotifyMe System allows the City to deliver critical messages to you, such as evacuation notices, boil water notices and other emergency information.
Our social media pages are the best source for City-specific information. We ask the public to stay tuned to local media for information on shelters and government office closures. The City of Hallandale Beach will use #HBEmergency and #HBDorian to provide relevant city operational information via social media channels.
